Committee Descriptions

Association Executives Committee / SOP

  • Provides an opportunity for local association executive officers and staff to discuss information regarding association issues.
  • Meets as needed at state association meetings and at one AE Day during the year.
  • One-year commitment.

Awards Task Force / SOP

  • Selects recipients for Association awards and recognition programs.
  • Meets as needed at state meetings.
  • One-year commitment.

Broker Work Group / SOP

  • Provides direction on KAR educational and networking opportunities for brokers, owners and managers during KAR conferences, in-person and virtual meetings.
  • Meets as needed remotely and in person during state meetings.
  • One-year commitment.

Budget and Finance Committee / SOP

  • Responsible for handling Association financial matters.
  • Meets as needed at State Association meetings and at a stand-alone meeting during the budgeting process.
  • Three-year commitment.

Communications Task Force / SOP

  • Work with KAR Staff to improve communication and serve as ambassadors for KAR meetings, platforms, and events.
  • Meets as needed throughout the year via in-person or virtually.
  • One year commitment and eligible for reappointment to successive terms

Conference Scholarship Mentors

  • Mentors must be engaged with KAR and involved as a regular conference attendee with committee/volunteer experience.
  • Mentors will commit to fulfilling responsibilities and duties prior to, during and following the KAR conference.
  • Mentors will commit to serve during one conference annually.

Credentials Committee / SOP

  • Evaluates Candidate applications for KAR elected offices
  • Establishes, monitors and enforces campaign and election rules
  • Meets as needed throughout the year via in-person or virtually.
  • One-year commitment

Focus Groups

  • Members discuss and explore specific topics as necessary
  • Meet as needed

Forms Committee / SOP

  • Responsible for developing, marketing, and providing KAR members with comprehensive and legally approved real estate forms
  • Initiates reviews, edits, drafts, and votes on any changes to forms that are copyrighted and published by the Kansas Association of REALTORS®
  • Recommends and evaluate training needed on KAR forms

Governmental Affairs Committee / SOP

  • Investigates, evaluates and proposes legislative pursuits to promote a favorable real estate industry legislative climate.
  • Meets at each state association meeting, via conference call during the Legislative Session as needed; and in summer policy-making sessions as needed.
  • Three-year commitment.

Governmental Affairs Forum / SOP

  • Gain information on current and proposed legislative and regulatory issues.
  • Meets at each state association meeting.
  • One-year commitment.

Member Engagement Work Group / SOP

  • Provides member input into the programming, content, events, and promotion of Association conferences and events, growing committee involvement and member engagement, and developing and administering the KAR Conference Scholarship Program.
  • Meets as needed at state meetings.
  • One-year commitment.

NAR Leadership Fund Trustees / Fund Guidelines

  • Oversees funds that financially support efforts to maintain and enhance the national posture of KAR and its members.
  • Meets at KAR Legislative Meetings and as needed.
  • Two-year commitment.

Opportunities Advisory Board / SOP

  • Identifies opportunities, personnel, projects, and resources for local associations to increase their community engagement, expand economic growth, and grow mutually beneficial relationships with outside organizations.
  • Meets as deemed necessary by the call of the Chair. Meets via Zoom or in-person based on the meeting’s purpose and complexity of the issue to be discussed.
  • Manages the State Political Coordinator Program.
  • Two-year commitment.

Professional Development Task Force / SOP

  • The Task Force will review all KAR professional development and educational courses and offerings.
  • Meets as needed throughout the year via in-person or virtually.
  • One time appointment.

Professional Standards Committee / SOP

  • Oversees Regional Professional Standards program.
  • Only meets in person at Annual Conference & Education Expo.
  • Holds conference call meetings when a complaint is filed.
  • Three-year commitment.

Professional Standards Grievance Committee / SOP

  • Reviews grievance complaints filed with KAR.
  • Only holds conference call meetings when a complaint is filed.
  • Three-year commitment.

RPAC Trustees / Bylaws

  • Promotes fundraising and handles disbursement of RPAC funds to state legislative candidates.
  • Meets several times each year including at state meetings.
  • Four-year commitment.

State Political Coordinator

  • SPC’s implement the legislative agenda set by KAR alongside Governmental Affairs staff.
  • Meets virtually for annual training and virtually during the legislative session as needed.
  • Two-year commitment.

Thought Leader

  • Responsible for sharing relevant content with fellow members through our member communications platform, The Buzz.
  • One introductory virtual meeting, then post content twice per month.
  • One-year commitment.

Vision Team / SOP

  • Identifies trends, economic factors, industry dynamics and issues
  • Creates an annual report of findings that impacts KAR goals and objectives
  • Meets in person and via conference call several times throughout the year
  • Three-year commitment
