Kansas Housing Market Stats – October 2020

“Sales activity should continue to be strong through the end of the year,” said KAR president, Marsha McConnell with Plaza Astle Realty in Hutchinson. “In October, the number of contracts pending for sale in the future was up 35 percent compared to the same time last year.”

October 2020 Market Highlights

  • Home sales in Kansas rose by 20.5% percent in October 2020 compared to the same period last year. National sales rose with sales rising 26.6% over 2019.
  • Home prices continue to increase across the state. The statewide average sale price in October was $242,227 a 13.3% increase compared to last year. Midwest prices rose 16.7% and US prices rose 15.5%.
  • Mortgage rates continue to fall. The national average commitment rate on 30-year conventional mortgage for the week ending November 13, 2020 was 2.72%. View Freddie Mac’s report.
