Kansas Housing Market Stats – September 2020

“September was a very strong month for closings across the state,” said KAR president, Marsha McConnell with Plaza Astle Realty in Hutchinson. “Part of this was due to transactions that were delayed due to the pandemic.”

September 2020 Market Highlights

  • Home sales in Kansas rose by 21.2% percent in September 2020 compared to the same period last year. National sales rose with sales rising 20.9% over 2019.
  • Home prices continue to increase across the state. The statewide average sale price in September was $250,382 a 15.5% increase compared to last year. Midwest prices rose 14.8% and US prices rose 14.8%.
  • Mortgage rates continue to fall. The national average commitment rate on 30-year conventional mortgage for the week ending October 16, 2020 was 2.80%. View Freddie Mac’s report.
