“For the year as a whole, sales in 2020 were up more than 7 percent,” said KAR president, Natalie Moyer with Reese Nichols in Wichita. “Record low interest rates continue to drive demand despite the pandemic.”
December 2020 Market Highlights
- Home sales in Kansas rose by 19.9% percent in December 2020 compared to the same period last year. National sales rose with sales rising 22.2% over 2019.
- Home prices continue to increase across the state. The statewide average sale price in December was $248,672 a 14.3% increase compared to last year. Midwest prices rose 13.7% and US prices rose 12.9%.
- Mortgage rates continue to fall. The national average commitment rate on 30-year conventional mortgage for the week ending January 15, 2021 was 2.77%. View Freddie Mac’s report.
