Take time to update your devices and programs
While it is tempting to ignore those friendly reminders that your computer or programs need to be updated, not having the most up-to-date software can leave your computer vulnerable. Setting aside a few minutes to update your computer and software regularly or setting up auto-updates can keep your computer running smoothly.
Don’t let your router route hackers into your personal information.
You should always change the factory password assigned to your router. This is not the same as your network password. Additionally, you can hide your router’s Service Set Identifier (SSID). This is the name that displays when you look for which WiFi network to connect to on your device. Do not use unsecured wireless networks.
You’re on the go and need access to WiFi. The restaurant or café you’re at has free WiFi… but it says unsecured. What does that mean? It means that hackers can access your emails when you’re using an unsecured connection.
