“Sales in October 2020 were unusually strong as we worked through the backlog from the shutdowns,” said KAR president, Natalie Moyer with Reese Nichols in Wichita. “As a result, the decline last month was expected. Year-to-date, however, sales are still up nearly 4 percent compared to last year.”
October 2021 Market Highlights
- Home sales in Kansas fell by 12.3 percent in October 2021 compared to the same period last year. National sales fell with sales falling 5.8% over 2020.
- Home prices continue to increase across the state. The statewide average sale price in October was $265,700 a 9.9% increase compared to last year. Midwest prices rose 7.8% and US prices rose 13.1%.
- Mortgage rates have slightly increased. The national average commitment rate on 30-year conventional mortgage for the week ending November 19, 2021 was 3.10%. View Freddie Mac’s report.
