Beginning on January 1st, the Kansas mortgage registration tax will take the first step of a five-year phase-out and document recording fees will increase slightly for all Kansans who record real estate documents.
In order to help you advise your clients on closing costs and document recording fees, KAR has prepared an online calculator that will help you calculate what your clients will owe on the mortgage tax and document recording fees, a frequently asked questions (FAQs) document that explains the changes and a summary of the changes that will take place over the next five years.
