“Sale prices are still rising but have slowed. Sales are down compared to last year which may be due to the rising sales prices.” said KAR president Jon Fort with Arc Real Estate in Garden City.
December 2023 Market Highlights
- Home sales in Kansas fell by 5.1% in December 2023 compared to the same period last year. National sales fell with sales falling 6.2% over 2022.
- Home prices continue to increase across the state. The statewide average sale price in December was $292,182 a 4.1% increase compared to last year. Midwest prices rose 5.9% and US prices rose by 4.4%.
- Mortgage rates fell slightly. The national average commitment rate on 30-year conventional mortgage for the week ending January 19, 2024 was 6.60%. View Freddie Mac’s report.
