“It remains a sellers’ market despite the decline in sales,” said KAR president Thomas Howe with McGrew Real Estate in Lawrence. “Homes are selling quickly and sellers are making few concessions. In April, only 40 percent of homes sold at a discount from the list price.”
April 2023 Market Highlights
- Home sales in Kansas fell by 23.5% in April 2023 compared to the same period last year. National sales fell with sales falling 23.2% over 2022.
- Home prices continue to increase across the state. The statewide average sale price in April was $295,748 a 4.0% increase compared to last year. Midwest prices rose 1.8% and US prices fell 1.7%.
- Mortgage rates remained steady. The national average commitment rate on 30-year conventional mortgage for the week ending May 19, 2023 was 6.39%. View Freddie Mac’s report.
