Governor Signs Our Property Tax Transparency Act

Last week, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback signed our legislation (HB 2047) that will help make local governments more accountable and transparent to property taxpayers when they increase property taxes through assessed valuation increases. In the future, a local government will be required to notify property taxpayers by publishing a notice in their official newspaper when they increase property taxes over the preceding year through assessed valuations on existing properties.
