So You Want To Be A KAR Officer…

Being elected as an officer of the Kansas Association of REALTORS® is an honor and a duty to your peers from across the State of Kansas.

KAR has four officer positions:

* President
* President-Elect
* First Vice President/Treasurer
* Immediate Past President

The Elections

Elections take place annually during the KAR Mid-Year Meetings. Members of the KAR Board of Directors vote to elect the First Vice President/Treasurer, and the President-Elect, from a list of certified candidates as determined by the Chief Executive Officer. Being a “certified candidate” indicates that you are a member in good standing with the Kansas Association of REALTORS® and meet the eligibility requirements of the office.

The President-Elect automatically becomes the Association President for the following year, and the Association President automatically becomes the Immediate Past President.

The officers serve one-year terms, beginning on January 1 after their election.

Getting On The Ballot

If you’re interested in becoming an Officer of the Kansas Association of REALTORS®, you can declare your candidacy by completing an Officer Nomination Form and asking your Local Association of REALTORS® to write a letter placing you in nomination. This letter along with the Officer Nomination Form and a resume (optional) should be received by the CEO of the Kansas Association of REALTORS® at least 30 days prior to the KAR Mid-Year Meetings which are currently held annually in June.

Nominations for Officers may be taken on the floor of the Board of Directors meeting, provided the member is in good standing with the Kansas Association of REALTORS®.

The members of the Kansas Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors vote on the candidates at the Board of Directors meeting during the KAR Mid-Year Meeting.
