Affiliate with a Broker – Interview Questions

KREC requires that you affiliate with a broker to obtain a real estate license in Kansas. Here are suggested interview questions when deciding on a broker:

  • What kind of training / education do you provide?
  • Do you have a mentoring program?
  • What services does your company provide? (i.e. administrative support, health insurance, errors and omissions insurance, etc.)
  • Are you a member of the National Association of REALTORS®? What does this mean? How will this affect me?
  • What is your advertising policy?
  • Am I required to have an office in the brokerage?
  • Is there a cost for to me have an office in your brokerage?
  • Are there any additional expenses?
  • Am I required to put in office time in the brokerage? If so, how much and what specifically are the required tasks?
  • How are referrals delegated?
  • Do you require a contract with me?
  • What is the commission split?
  • When are paychecks issued? (i.e. once a month, once a week, after each closing, how long after the closing, etc.)
  • Do you hold regular sales or staff meetings?
  • Do you provide any legal counseling?
  • Do you have an office policy / procedures handbook?
