Last week, an influential member of Congress introduced a federal tax reform proposal that would, among other things, eliminate the ability of homeowners to claim the property tax deduction, limit the mortgage interest deduction, increase the capital gains tax burden on home sales and weaken depreciation on commercial real estate.
