To support our members in navigating the increasing number of legal questions and evolving practices in the real estate industry, the Legal Hotline is available at no additional cost, exclusively for KAR brokers.
The Legal Hotline is a program developed to provide quick access to attorney Vern Jarboe and his team of Kansas real estate experts.
The Legal Hotline is available to Kansas REALTORS®. It is your link to an attorney who can provide information about real estate law and related matters. The service is available to brokers and agents with their broker’s consent.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I CALL?
The hotline operator will ask for your Legal Hotline information to verify that you have access to the Legal Hotline. Your request will be returned in the order it is received, usually within 24 hours.
WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION CAN I GET FROM THE HOTLINE?
You can discuss a wide range of topics with an attorney, including:
- Agency
- Brokerage
- Closings
- License law
- Listing
- Regulations
- Titles
- Trust accounts
Before using the hotline, please formulate a clear question, gather all relevant facts, and have your Legal Hotline information available.
The Hotline operates from 10 am-Noon and 2-4 pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. If additional research is necessary, questions will be answered within 24 hours. The attorney provides a follow-up letter to the designated REALTOR® within 48 hours of the answer.
