Q. What’s the difference between KAR and the Kansas Real Estate Commission?
A. KREC is a state government agency that oversees licensing. KAR is a non-profit, trade association representing over 8,000 members across Kansas.

Q. What are my continuing education requirements?
A. KREC requires 12 hours of continuing education every two years. Click here to see details on what’s required to maintain your license.

Q. Can I sell real estate without being a REALTOR®?
A. The Kansas Real Estate Commission requires a license to sell property in the state of Kansas. A REALTOR® is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and the state and local associations. REALTORS® are held to a high professional standard and code of ethics. Only REALTOR® members may use the trademark name.
