Our Past

Since 1920, the Kansas Association of REALTORS® has been the "voice of real estate" in Kansas. From the National Real Estate Journal Roster dated May 23, 1921 Kansas had only 209 total Members from 7 local boards:

  • Dodge City - 8 Members
  • Hutchinson - 18 Members
  • Kansas City - 47 Members
  • Marion County - 6 Members
  • Salina - 30 Members
  • Topeka - 50 Members

By the time the second annual KAR convention was held in Hutchinson on December 4th and 5th, 1922, the local board numbers had grown to 25.

Present

Today, Kansas Local REALTOR® boards number 35, with a Members-At-Large group spread throughout the state. With membership numbers over 10,000, the Kansas Association of REALTORS® celebrated it's 85th year in 2006 and continues to help our members meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Our Future

KAR has seen the Kansas REALTOR® family through many changes and we continue to stay the course, keeping a finger on the pulse of the ever-changing real estate industry. We will continue to be the "voice of real estate" in Kansas!
